We saw that people were supported to make simple decisions and when people were unable to make more complex decisions for themselves the provider acted in accordance with legal requirements. The Care Quality Commission is the official regulator for the care sector. They inspect care homes and care services to make sure they are safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led.

We decorate the rooms to an individual resident's taste and there is plenty of space for them to place items they have brought with them. We recognise that people have a need to have ornaments and pictures that are important to them and familiar objects close at hand make this a true 'home from home'.

If the service user is unable to do this, the nurse acts as their advocate, involving independent advocates as necessary, but only in the service user’s best interest. Registered under Intacare Limited, at Broomhouse we offer our residents quality care, set in a homely environment with comfortable, modern surroundings. Broomhouse is to the immediate west of Calderbraes Golf Club, which forms part of the decreasing green belt separating Glasgow from settlements in Lanarkshire. There are no sporting facilities in the neighbourhood other than a few children's play areas. But, as part of the masterplan deal for the land, developers agreed to provide funds to upgrade the basic facilities at James Lindsay Memorial Park in Baillieston . However, by 2018 no improvements had been carried out to the park with the housebuilding ongoing.

If the service user is unable to do this, the nurse acts as their advocate, involving independent advocates as necessary, but only in the service user's best interest. We also encourage service users that are able to mobilise to eat out at the many restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area. We decorate the rooms to an individual service user's taste and there is plenty of space for them to place items they have brought with them.

Following this the provider sent an action plan telling us about the improvements they intended to make. People and relatives knew how to make a complaint about the service if they needed to. The provider regularly sought the views of people, relatives and staff; to inform and make service improvements when required. Registered under our sister company Intacare Limited, at Broomhouse we offer our service users quality care, set in a homely environment with comfortable, modern surroundings. We continued to seek clarification from the provider to validate evidence found. We reviewed information received from the clinical quality manager from Derbyshire CCG. No concerns were identified.

The station was located next to Boghall, another mining hamlet to the west of the original Broomhouse village. The remains of the former Mount Vernon Sports Stadium are also located in that area. People had opportunities to share their ideas and suggestions about the service, and raise concerns if they needed to. People told us, and we observed throughout our inspection, that people using the service and staff enjoyed each other’s company and had fun together. People we spoke to felt understood by staff and we saw that people were encouraged to be independent and were treated with respect. Staff often supported people to engage and participate in home life and the extended community; to do things they enjoyed there that were meaningful to them. Environmental equipment, specialist aids and adjustments for vehicle access helped to promote people’s independence. People received personalised, timely care that met with their known wishes, lifestyle preferences and promoted their social inclusion.

The principles reflect the need for people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live meaningful lives that include control, choice, and independence. People using the service receive planned and co-ordinated person-centred support that was appropriate and inclusive for them. We used the information the provider sent us in the provider information return. This is information providers are required to send us with key information about their service, what they do well, and improvements they plan to make. At our previous inspection in October 2013 we identified a breach in regulations relating to the management of medicines.
